Crash Testing Conference

Hosted by the Maryland Association of Traffic Accident Investigators, this year’s conference agenda includes 2½ days of crash testing, lecture presentations and vendor displays focusing on current topics and trends in motor vehicle collision reconstruction. Crash testing at this year’s conference will include underride impacts of passenger type vehicles with a large semi-trailer.

Optional/Additional Training Class and Sessions:
On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, as a prelude to the main conference, an optional full day training class on forensic mapping and diagramming will be held. This class, presented by PSFM, promises to provide answers for the novice and advanced practitioner involved in forensic mapping.
The class will cover:
- A short history of Forensic Mapping, from its roots in surveying to the newer methods of the present
- A review of EDMI trig functions with applications on how the EDMI measures angles/distances
- Review and explanations of recommended Forensic Mapping protocols, proper operation of FM equipment, mapping techniques, examples of misapplication of FM, and other legal issues
- How to convert hard (paper) copies of data recorder files into a useable diagram without the digital file, how to calibrate and overlay aerial photographs onto mapped diagrams in CAD
- Tips and tricks of the trade
The class should interest both the novice and active Forensic Mapper, as well as those who might have contact with Forensic Mapping data and CAD diagrams
Registration for this class can be made while registering for the conference and there is an additional fee of $45, which includes lunch.
On Wednesday, October 6, Kevin Johnson will present an optional evening session on nighttime photography. This session will expand on Kevin’s lecture and include practical applications, so bring your camera and a tripod. No additional charge or registration is required for this session.
The following ACTAR CEU’s will be awarded for participants of each of our events:

Conference Venue:
The venue for this year’s conference is the Grand Hotel, located on the ocean and Ocean City’s boardwalk at 21st Street. The nightly room rate for conference attendees is $79.00 (+taxes) for a standard room. A limited number of King-Whirlpool Jacuzzi rooms (upper level room with a large Jacuzzi tub, kitchenette, and amenities from Bath & Body Works™) are available for $119.00 (+taxes) per night.
